NASHVILLE (AP) — Career seasons for Tennessee kicker Rob Bironas and defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth resulted in new honors for both Wednesday as members of The Associated Press 2007 NFL All-Pro team.

It was the first for both Bironas in his third season and Haynesworth in his sixth.

Bironas, who was elected to his first Pro Bowl last month, said it’s been an incredible journey.

“I didn’t have any doubt in myself when I got started on this journey in high school. That was my dream to play in the pros, and I just kept pursuing it. I wanted to be one of the better kickers in the NFL, and this year I was able to do that,” Bironas said.

The Louisville, Ky., native went to Auburn, then finished by winning a Football Championship Subdivision title at Georgia Southern. He worked for his father while going through training camps with three NFL teams, played for two Arena Football League teams and even in the AFL’s minor league, the Af2.

Bironas had a career-high 133 points and led the NFL with 35 field goals in his third season. That netted him 41 of 50 votes from a panel of national media members.

“It’s great to be put on a team like this, especially from where I’ve been and where I plan to go. I’ll take it in during the offseason,” said Bironas, who’s continuing to work out in preparation for his Pro Bowl debut next month in Hawaii.

Bironas thanked the Titans for giving him a competitive chance in training camp in 2005, and he shared the credit with his teammates.

“Everything the past three years has been building to be better. This year, I had a great year,” Bironas said.

Haynesworth rebounded from a five-game suspension in 2006 to the best season of his career in 2007 even while missing three games with a strained left hamstring. He had a career-high six sacks, 69 tackles and 23 quarterback pressures.

Other Titans receiving votes for the All-Pro team included defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch (five), linebacker Keith Bulluck (one each for outside and inside linebacker), and left tackle Michael Roos, right tackle David Stewart, center Kevin Mawae each received a vote.
