Freshman Patrick Patterson has been named the SEC Freshman of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday. It is his third weekly honor from the league this season.
The 6-8 Huntington, W.Va. native averaged a double-double (17.0 ppg, 10.0 rpg) on the week, helping Kentucky to a weekly sweep of Georgia and Arkansas and a 6-0 record at home in league play.
Patterson recorded his ninth 20-point game of the season against Georgia, and hit two key free throws with 51 seconds left against Arkansas to give the Wildcats a 59-55 lead and put the contest out of reach.
The SEC Freshman of the Year candidate recorded his sixth double-double of the season against the Razorbacks, tying him with Jamal Mashburn for fifth on UK's freshman double-double list. Additionally, he moved to fifth on UK's all-time freshman scoring list with 396 points.
The Wildcats host Ole Miss Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at Rupp Arena. The game is being televised on WBKO-ABC.
