LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- Louisville has hired Western Michigan defensive coordinator Bill Miller as linebackers' coach.
Miller replaces Ted Roof, who spent less than two months with the Cardinals before leaving to pursue other interests.
The 51-year-old Miller helped the Broncos' defense lead the Mid-American Conference in pass efficiency defense while finishing second in sacks and fourth in total defense in 2007. Miller's previous coaching stops include Arizona State, Florida, Michigan State and Miami.
Miller will help try to revamp a Louisville defense that was among the nation's worst in 2007. The Cardinals finished near the bottom of the country in several major statistical categories, including total defense and scoring defense, during a disappointing 6-6 season.
