Lafayette, La. — Over three hours of heavy in the area forced the postponement of day two of the 2008 Sun Belt Conference Baseball Tournament.
Western Kentucky University’s game against Louisiana-Monroe — scheduled for 7:30 p.m. (CDT) — will now be the second full game played on Friday at M.L. “Tigue” Moore Field.
After Florida Atlantic eliminated Middle Tennessee with a 12-7 victory in the first elimination game of the day, New Orleans and Troy were knotted at 6-6 in the bottom of the ninth when lightning and heavy rain forced the teams off the field. That game — which sees the Trojans with the bases loaded an one out in the inning — will resume at 9 a.m. Friday morning. Louisiana-Lafayette at South Alabama will then face off in a winner’s bracket game at 10 a.m. before the Hilltoppers and Warhawks face off at 1:30 p.m.
