Bowling Green, Ky. – After being named ESPN The Magazine third-team Academic All-America in 2007, Western Kentucky University track and cross country athlete Mike Duncan has been been named first-team for 2008, it was announced Monday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Duncan, a Henderson, Ky., native and graduate of Henderson County High, graduated from WKU in May with a perfect 4.00 cumulative grade-point average during his four years on the Hill, majoring in physical education (pedagogy) with a minor in journalism education.

During his career, Duncan was a member of three Sun Belt Conference championship teams, including the 2005 cross country conference champions and the 2008 indoor and outdoor track and field team champions. Duncan was a member of the distance medley relay team that scored at each of the last two SBC indoor championships, and as a sophomore, he scored an eighth-place finish in the mile run at the league indoor meet.

Duncan was named WKU’s Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the 2007-08 school year, while also earning ESPN The Magazine first-team Academic All-District IV honors from CoSIDA each of the past two seasons.
