Bowling Green, Ky. — Current Western Kentucky University women’s golfer Lauren Scholl and former Lady Topper Sarah Colbert completed successful qualifying rounds at the Kentucky Women’s State Amateur Championship at Elizabethtown Country Club on Monday.
Both players made the championship flight after posting rounds under 80. Scholl fired a 78 while Colbert was just one stroke behind her at 79.
The championship flight took players with scores from 71 to 81.The top two seeds in the match play tournament went to Karisa Akin and Ashlee Rose who tied for medalist honors after recording 71s.
Scholl — who is seeded 18th after the qualifying round — will tee-off against No. 15 Morgan Cross at 10:55 a.m. (EST) in the first-round of the match play tournament while Colbet, the 22nd seed, will face No. 11 Laura McGehee at 11:37 a.m.
