Bowling Green, Ky. — The Western Kentucky University football squad took to Feix Field at Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium again on Saturday, marking the first day of two-a-day practices.

“I thought we came out and got our motors running early — something we challenged the squad to do, and I saw some good leadership,” stated head coach David Elson. “The guys came out and got our work done, and I thought that we were close to being at the tempo we want to be at.”

“The weather is helping us now, and we have accomplished a lot of things this week,” said Elson. “We have to continue to improve each day and keep our enthusiasm and focus. We challenge the leaders on this team to continue to help us have productive practices.”

Hilltopper football is entering its 90th season on the Hill and is in the last year of transition into the Sun Belt Conference — being eligible to compete for a league championship and a bowl berth in 2009. WKU kicks off the season at Indiana on August 30th.
