The Western Kentucky University football team concluded a successful first week of practice with seven practices in six days. The team did not take the practice field on Sunday after practicing twice in pads on Saturday.
“I was pleased with our first week of practice,” Head Coach David Elson said. “We put a lot in, and it was challenging for many of our newcomers to absorb it all. Our veteran guys have a good grasp of everything and have shown some leadership in bringing the young guys along.”
The team will again practice twice on Monday, hitting the field for a morning practice from 8:30 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. before concluding the day with an 6:30 p.m. – 8:15 p.m. evening practice.
“Both sides of the ball have been accountable, and no one has backed off from anything,” Elson said. “We’ll continue the pace we are on next week and will fine tune some things. We will have referees out here, and we will also work on our two minute offense. I am pleased with where we are at this time.”
