Edmonson County scored just two touchdowns in 48 minutes of play, but it was enough to defeat Grayson County 14-8 to reclaim the coveted tobacco stick from its fierce rival.
The Wildcats jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter thanks to a Zack Vincent touchdown run. The team followed it up with a Brent Smith one-yard touchdown in the second quarter to take a 14-0 lead into halftime.
The Cougars would cut the deficit to six, but fall to the Wildcats for the second time in three seasons.
Edmonson County (1-0) travels to Caverna next week while the Cougars (0-1) host Butler County.
