Shenard Holton stole the show for Warren East Friday night. The senior running back scored five times to help the Raiders defeat Greenwood 45-27.
Leading 32-7 at halftime, Holton exploded for touchdown runs of 13 and 47 yards, giving him five scores combined for the night. Holton finished with 147 yards on eleven carries and five touchdowns, three rushing, one throwing and one receiving. Junior quarterback Andrew Alvey had a solid debut under center. He ended the night 8-of-12 passing for 170 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.
Greenwood was led by Dee Anderson, who returned to the football field for the first time in two seasons. He carried the ball six times for 73 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Ty Downing contributed with 170 passing yards and 90 rushing yards and a score.
The Raiders (1-0) travel to Fort Campbell next week while the Gators (0-1) host Allen County-Scottsville.
