Cincinnati, Ohio - The 34th ranked Lady Toppers extended their winning streak to seven by defeating Xavier tonight in four sets (25-22, 23-25, 25-22, 25-18). With the win the Lady Toppers stay perfect on the season and head into the Lady Topper Invitational with a 7-0 record.
In the first set the Lady Toppers and Musketeers fought to the end spending most of the set tied. In the end it was the Lady Toppers who prevailed as they dominated on offense and finished the set with a .333 hitting percentage. Xavier finished the first set with a .194 hitting percentage.
After taking the second set from WKU, the Lady Toppers came back in sets three and four controlling the sets offensively and defensively. The Lady Toppers held the Musketeers to a .177 hitting percentage and forced 24 errors on the way to victory.
The Lady Toppers finished the match by posting 57 kills, 51 assists, 53 digs and a .261 hitting percentage. The team was led by senior stars Megan Argabright and Julia Noe who posted outstanding numbers on both sides of the ball. Argabright finished the match with a match-high 15 kills and a .433 hitting percentage while also recording three aces. Noe posted six kills, 44 assists, one ace, 13 digs and two solo blocks.
The Lady Toppers return home this weekend to host the Lady Topper Invitational and will face Furman and Miami (Ohio) on Friday at 11:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. respectively On Saturday WKU will face Valparaiso at 1 p.m. before concluding the tournament at 7 p.m. against Tennessee Tech.
