The Panthers assured themselves a first round home game in the playoffs for the second straight season with a 28-21 win over Butler County in triple overtime.
Russellville quarterback D.J. Quarles led the Panthers with 71 passing yards and two touchdowns, completing eight of his 16 attempts. Quarles also threw two interceptions. Running back Damien Elam finished the contest with 80 yards on ten carries.
For Butler County, Jessie Stivers finished 11-of-29 passing for 94 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions, while Jason Byrd passed the century mark, rushing for 102 yards on 25 carries. The Bears outgained the Panthers on offense 265 to 233.
The Panthers (4-1, 3-0 Class AAA District 2) visit Glasgow next week while the Bears (4-1, 2-1) host Edmonson County.
