Bowling Green, Ky. — After leading the Lady Toppers to their first ever win over a ranked opponent in school history, senior Megan Argabright was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced today. Argabright, who stole the show in WKU's win over rival #23 Middle Tennessee, is off to another outstanding start in her quest for her fourth consecutive All-America honor.
In WKU's lone match of the weekend, Argabright finished with 12 kills, three blocks and a .417 hitting percentage, while only committing two errors the entire night. Overall this season, Argabright has racked up 199 kills (3.43 per set), four aces, 20 assists, 23 digs and 44 total blocks and is currently ranked second in hitting percentage, eighth in kills per set and ninth in service aces per set in the Conference. The Louisville, Ky. native has also made her presence known throughout the country as she is currently ranked 15th in the nation in hitting percentage.
In addition, the Lady Toppers were rewarded for their win by receiving four votes in the CBS College Sports/AVCA Poll. The Lady Toppers are currently ranked 40th in the country. Offensively, the Lady Toppers are ranked first in the conference in hitting percentage and 12th in the nation at .281 with 764 kills in only 58 sets. WKU has also posted 711 assists, 81 aces, 717 digs and 115 blocks this season and are outscoring their opponents 1327-1152 this season.
Argabright and the rest of the Lady Toppers will look to extend their Sun Belt Conference winning streak this weekend when they host Florida Atlantic and Florida International. The Lady Toppers will battle Florida Atlantic on Friday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. CDT and will hit the court against Florida International on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. Live stats as well as free live streaming of both matches will be available at www.sunbeltsports.org.
