HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. (AP) -- Third-ranked Louisville survived a scare as they defeated Division II Northern Kentucky 84-69 in an exhibition game Saturday night.
Freshman forward Samardo Samuels led the Cardinals with 29 points. He was 10-of-11 from the floor and made 9-of-12 free throws. Earl Clark had 10 rebounds for Louisville.
Dustin Maguire led the Norse with 33 points, including nine 3-pointers.
The Norse led the Cardinals 49-48 with less than 13 minutes to play before the Cardinals took the lead for good on a lay-up by George Goode.
Louisville's women's team beat NKU's women 90-73 in the first game of the double-header.
The games were the first to be played in NKU's new Bank of Kentucky Center.
