MONROE, La. -- Malcolm Thomas scored 25 points to lead Louisiana-Monroe in a 72-66 win against New Orleans on Friday night.
Thomas also led the Warhawks (3-7, 1-1 Sun Belt Conference) with eight rebounds and went 5-for-7 from beyond the arc in the game. Rudy Turner chipped in with 14 points, seven rebounds and two blocks.
Darrian McKinstry scored 16 for the Privateers (4-6, 0-1), and was one of four New Orleans players to score in double figures. Kyndall Dykes scored 14, T.J. Worley had 13 and Jaroslav Tyrna added 11.
New Orleans outscored Louisiana-Monroe 37-32 in the second half after trailing by 11 points at the break, but the Warhawks hit six free throws in the game's last 1:35 to seal the win.
