MONROE, La. -- Lawrence Gilbert scored 22 points and Rudy Turner added 21 points and six blocks to lead Louisiana-Monroe to an 85-78 victory over Tennessee Tech on Monday night.
The Warhawks (4-8) avenged a 108-70 loss to the Golden Eagles on Nov. 29.
Louisiana-Monroe led by as many as 10 points in the first half, but Tennessee Tech (6-5) closed to within 36-34 at halftime.
The Warhawks built a 14-point lead with 12:54 left, but the Golden Eagles went on a 14-4 run to trail 59-55. Tennessee Tech could draw no closer than three points as Louisiana-Monroe made 12 of 14 free throws in the final 3:09.
Gilbert was 8-for-10 from the floor and 5-for-6 from 3-point range. Turner was 8-for-11. Dynile Forbes added 18 points for the Warhawks.
Will Barnes led Tennessee Tech with 27 points, followed by Darnell Lindsay with 13 and Daniel Northern with 10.
