Bowling Green, Ky. — Kacy Moran, a 2009 graduate of Canton High School in Plymouth, Mich., will join the Lady Topper volleyball program next season, head coach Travis Hudson announced today. Moran, a setter, will be one of four newcomers on the 2009 team.
"After meeting Coach Hudson and Coach Griffin and seeing the campus, I feel that WKU is the perfect school for me to grow as a person, student and athlete," Moran said. "I believe that WKU is a special place to be a student-athlete. Coach Hudson's goal is excellence in the classroom and on the court for his players and this is my goal as well. I am very proud to be a member of the WKU volleyball program."
"We are really excited to add Kacy to our 2009 roster," Hudson stated. "She is a terrific kid who embodies everything we are looking for in a student-athlete here at WKU."
During her high school career, Moran was named to the All-League team three times while also being named to the All-Region Team twice. In addition, she was named the Canton High School Female Athlete of the Year in 2009 and holds the school record in both assists and aces.
Moran was also a part of the M-Juniors National Club Team for five years under coach Mike Watkins. This year, her club team recently finished fifth in the 2009 AAU Junior National Volleyball Championships in Orlando, Fla. Moran will major in education.
The Lady Toppers, who finished the 2008 season with a 26-10 record, captured the 2008 Sun Belt Conference Championship title and participated in the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time in school history. WKU will welcome back four seniors, two juniors and three sophomores this season.
