After a day of uncertainty, Kentucky's highly-regarded 2009 basketball recruiting class may not get one more sought-after prospect after all.

According to KCSP-AM in Kansas City, Kan., Xavier Henry - a consensus top-10 player in the class of 2009 - is no longer considering playing with the Wildcats.

According to the station's website, Henry said late Tuesday night, "I'm going to Kansas and that's final."

That followed multiple reports from Missouri and Kansas throughout the day that suggested Henry was wavering on his decision and was considering Kentucky.

Henry originally signed with Memphis, but was released from his letter-of-intent when coach John Calipari left for Kentucky. He then committed to Kansas instead of the Wildcats, but his father told the "Chris and Cowboy" show on KCSP on Tuesday his son actually wanted to go to UK.

"If it wasn't for his momma saying that 'I would not go to Kentucky, I would not move down to Kentucky,' Xavier would have been at Kentucky," Carl Henry said. "He would have been at Kentucky. So Xavier says, 'I'm going to go to Kansas.' Even though that's what he wanted to do is go to Kentucky, play under Coach Cal. That's what he wanted to do. I expressed this to (Kansas) coach (Bill) Self."

Since Xavier Henry signed with Memphis, he can't sign another letter-of-intent. He hasn't begun taking classes at Kansas, so he's technically free to decide to play at any other school without penalty.

Carl Henry told both KCSP and WHB-AM in Kansas City, Mo. he would meet with his family Tuesday afternoon to discuss which direction Xavier and his brother C.J. - who attended Memphis last season but announced he planned on playing at Kansas this season as a walk-on - would go.

Carl Henry might have had more meetings than one with his family, though. Shay Wildeboor of JayhawkSlant.com reported Kansas head coach Bill Self and assistant coach Danny Manning were set to fly from Lawrence to the Henry's hometown of Oklahoma City to discuss the players' commitments.

Carl Henry was also upset in the interview about an article written last week in the Kansas City Star that detailed how the Henry brothers hadn't enrolled in summer classes at Kansas. Xavier Henry told the newspaper he hadn't done so because he'd just had braces taken off his teeth and root canals on each of his two front teeth.

Carl Henry said, however, it had more to do with his son not wanting to attend class. "If he didn’t have to go to college (because of the NBA's age minimum for entry into the draft), he wouldn’t do it,” Carl Henry told the paper.

The article also cited an instance where Carl Henry ignored a phone call from Self. Henry said his family was portrayed in a negative light and that it was a big reason his sons were reconsidering.

“Now all of this stuff has been said, his mom doesn’t care where he goes,” Carl Henry told the show. “So guess what? Kid might have a change of mind. That’s what I told coach Self.”

Carl Henry also said Xavier's friends John Wall and Daniel Orton already signing with Kentucky has his son reconsidering the decision to attend Kansas.

Self talked to KCTV in Kansas City, Mo. about the recruitment and part of the interview was aired on WHB's "Between the Lines" on Tuesday afternoon.

"There was an article written in the paper that the family didn't feel portrayed them well at all," Self said. "They have a right to think that.

"If in fact we can work through this, great. I haven't had very much communication, but obviously the alarm has gone off for a lot of our fans. We'll see how it plays out; if they decide there's a better place for them, we feel like we've still done a good job here.

"If they're supposed to be with us, they'll end up being with us. If not, they won't. You don't want one article to (ruin) six years of work. But if it does, it does. And if it does, it means our relationship probably wasn't that strong to begin with."

It appears, at least for now, the relationship between Xavier Henry and Kansas was strong enough to stay intact.

Kentucky still remains one scholarship shy of the NCAA's limit for men's basketball. The Wildcats only have 12 players currently on scholarship - the number would've been 13 had Jodie Meeks withdrawn his name from last week's NBA Draft. He opted to stay in the draft and was chosen in the second round (41st overall) by the Milwaukee Bucks.
