Glasgow's Whitney Wade has acheived her goal of earning membership on the LPGA Tour.
The 24-year-old former Glasgow High School star has earned her tour card for 2010 by finishing 6th on the Duramed FUTURES Tour money list in 2009. She won $41,393 this year, bolstered by winning The Duramed Championship in June. She also had two other top-3 finishes and a top-10 finish this year.
The top 10 finishers on the FUTURES Tour money list earn LPGA Tour cards for the following year.
Wade's ascent through the professional ranks isn't much of a surprise - she's been an accomplished tournament golfer for more than a decade.
She helped Glasgow High School to four straight KHSAA Girls State Tournament titles from 1997-2001, won two individual state titles in 2000 and 2001 (part of six straight top-three individual finishes), won three straight Kentucky Women's Amateur titles from 1999-2001 (winning the first of those at just 13 years old) and was a two-time American Junior Golf Association all-American.
She then went on to be an all-American at the University of Georgia and was named first-team all-Southeastern Conference four times (2004-2007).
