LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - John Calipari says the buildup to his first season as Kentucky's basketball coach has been a lot like a candidate waiting for election day. Win or lose, he wants to get started.
Of course, UK die-hards envisioning a Final Four return would strongly prefer win.
A swarm of reporters, photographers and videographers showed up Thursday for the first media day under the new star of the Bluegrass state. Also on hand were guard John Wall, center DeMarcus Cousins and other members of arguably the most ballyhooed freshman class in college basketball since Michigan's Fab Five.
Calipari brushed off the preseason expectations, joking that he is rightfully hyped considering he hasn't lost a single game at Kentucky.
On Friday, fans will get their first glimpse of the new-look Wildcats at Big Blue Madness.
