BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - After helping guide the Lady Toppers to three Sun Belt Conference victories this weekend freshman Sarah Rogers has been named the Sun Belt Conference's Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced today. This is the first Player of the Week honor for Rogers this season.

Rogers paced WKU defensively last week recording double-digit digs in all three of the Lady Toppers' matches. She finished the weekend leading the Lady Toppers in digs with 45, all in just 11 sets. The libero also posted four aces during the weekend and two assists. Rogers kicked off the week against ULM on Thursday night by recording ten digs and one ace. Then on Saturday against New Orleans, she tallied 18 digs in a five set thriller and also posted two assists and two aces. She followed up that performance on Sunday against ULL by racking up another 17 digs in just three sets and adding another ace to her weekly total.

So far this season, Rogers is averaging 3.83 digs per set and has already recorded 375 this season, just 103 shy of tenth place in WKU history with six matches to go in the regular season. This weekend, Rogers and the Lady Toppers will battle Troy on Friday night and South Alabama on Saturday afternoon. On Friday, the Lady Toppers and Trojans will hit the court for a 7 p.m. CDT match-up and on Saturday, WKU and South Alabama will play at 5 p.m.
