Hilltoppers Name Team Captains For Saturday’s Game At North Texas

Bowling Green, Ky. - Seniors Marell Booker and Taurean Smith, junior Seth Tamme and sophomore Jared Clendenin have been named team captains for Saturday's Western Kentucky University football game at North Texas.
The Hilltoppers and Mean Green will kick off at 3:15 p.m. (CDT) from Fouts Field in Denton, Texas. The game will be televised on the Sun Belt Network, and can been seen locally in Bowling Green live on WKYU-PBS (Insight Cable Channel 11).
Booker has seen action in all seven games so far this season at running back, rushing 25 times for 111 yards and a touchdown. He also has four catches for 51 yards and has returned six kickoffs for an average of 22.5 yards per return. The Louisville, Ky., native had his best game of the season in the Sun Belt Conference opener against FIU, picking up 62 yards on the ground on eight carries.
Smith, a product of Perry, Ga., will serve as a captain for the second time in the last three games. One of WKU's starting inside linebackers, he currently ranks third on the team with 55 total tackles, and also has three tackles for loss. Smith has tallied 37 tackles in four Sun Belt games so far this season.
Tamme, a wide receiver from Danville, Ky., has seen plenty of action in the last few games, and is again expected to be in the lineup with the Topper offense takes the field on Saturday. A versatile player for WKU, Tamme has two catches for 17 yards through seven games, and has also been credited with a tackle on special teams.
A native of Stone Mountain, Ga., Clendenin continues to anchor a young WKU defensive line. A starter at right end, he has posted 33 total tackles on the year - sixth-best on the team - and also has 2.5 tackles for loss. Clendenin has also been credited with a pair of pass breakups.
