Bowling Green, Ky. — After a record-breaking 2006-07 season, Western Kentucky University junior forward Crystal Kelly has been honored by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association as a 2007 Honorable Mention Kodak/WBCA All-American.

In addition to receiving that honor over the weekend, Kelly was also named to the all-WNIT team for the second straight year.

Kelly joins Lillie Mason (1986), Tandreia Green (1989) and Gwen Doyle (1995) as the only Lady Toppers to be named to the Kodak All-America team. She also earned a spot on the gballmag.com Freshman All-America team following the 2004-05 campaign.

The 6-foot-3 Louisville, Ky., native scored a school record 770 points as she led WKU to a 23-9 record and a spot in the WNIT semifinals for the second straight year. She tied her own school record with a .611 field-goal percentage, and became just the fifth Lady Topper to ever record 300 rebounds in a season.

Kelly — who is a three-time first-team all-Sun Belt selection — will enter her senior season with 2,036 points. That leaves her 227 points away from breaking Mason’s school record. She is also just 99 rebounds away from reaching 1,000 for her career.

The nation’s second leading scorer at 24.1 points per game, Kelly went on to drop in 25.8 points and pull down 8.8 rebounds per contest in WKU’s four games in the WNIT to earn all-tournament honors.
