BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - After helping lead WKU to wins over Cumberland, junior Claire Alexandre and sophomore Cameron Watkins have been named the Sun Belt Conference's Swimmers of the Week, the conference office announced today.

Alexandre continued to post impressive times this past weeknd helping lead the Lady Toppers to a 166-107 victory over Cumberland on Saturday. She opened up the meet in the 200 medley relay by posting a time of 23.64 and then in the 50 Free, she recorded a time of 23.91 to take first place, just one tenth of a second away from breaking a pool record. She followed up that performance in the 500 Free with a time 5:00.89 to pick up her second win of the day. In the event, she was 30 seconds faster than the second place finisher and missed another pool record by just six tenths of a point.

Watkins also had an impressive day guiding the Hilltoppers to a 161-108 win over Cumberland in the 200 medley relay and the 200 Back. In the relay event, Watkins swam the opening leg posting a time of 24.22. He followed up that performance in the 200 back by recording a time of 1:51.83 to claim first place, over nine seconds faster than the second place finisher.

The WKU swimming and diving teams continue action this weekend by hosting Xavier at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
