Terre Haute, Ind. - Western Kentucky University senior cross country runner Janet Jesang finished 11th at the NCAA Cross Country Championship Monday, hosted by Indiana State University at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course.
With a 6,000-meter time of 20:11, the Kampala, Uganda native earned the fourth United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) all-America honor of her career. She earned her first all-America honor with a 13th-place finish at the 2008 NCAA Cross Country Championship, and also earned all-America accolades in the 5,000 meters at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships last season. With the latest honor, Jesang becomes just the seventh athlete in WKU track and field history to earn four-or-more all-America honors over the course of a career, joining Nick Rose (9 all-America honors), Tony Staynings (8), Sean Dollman (6), Jesse Stuart (5), Chris Ridler (4), and Larry Cuzzort (4).
Representing the Hilltoppers in Terre Haute was Patrick Cheptoek, who placed 91st. The senior from Kapchorusa, Uganda covered the 10,000-meter course in 30:50.
