Bowling Green, Ky. — Western Kentucky University middle hitter Megan Argabright has been named to the 14-player roster for the Bring It Promotions/USA Volleyball Federation Development Team that will travel to Buenos Aires to compete against the Argentina National Team. The 12-day trip (May 21-June 1) will also include matches against top club teams in and around Buenos Aires.
“We’re really excited about this opportunity that Megan has to go to Argentina and play,” said Lady Topper head coach Travis Hudson. “In two years at the collegiate level, Megan has established herself as one of the best middle blockers in the country. The exposure she will gain playing internationally is something that will definately serve her well.”
Argabright — the 2006 Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year — has twice been named an honorable mention All-Amreican by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), and was also named to the 2007 Collegiate Volleyball Update Stellar Spiker Team. She was a first-team AVCA all-South Region selection for the second time in ‘06, and became the fourth Lady Topper to earn Sun Belt Conference Player-of-the-Year honors after finishing with a school-record 590 kills, and a league-best .390 hitting percentage. She also eclipsed 1,000 career kills during the season, leaving her 734 kills shy of the WKU career record at the midway point of her career.
A first-team all-Sun Belt selection for the second time in as many seasons, Argabright averaged 4.65 kills per game — ranking in the top 30 nationally in both that category and hitting percentage. She went on to average 4.88 kills per game and posted a .414 hitting percentage in conference matches.
