INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- When Dario Franchitti won the Indianapolis 500 today, it was a bittersweet victory for the Andretti family.
Franchitti beat out his four Andretti Green Racing teammates, including team co-owner Michael Andretti and his son Marco.
The race was interrupted by rain for three hours shortly after the midway point. Franchitti won it under a caution light brought out when Marco Andretti crashed three laps from the abbreviated end. Marco lost this race last year when Sam Hornish Junior passed him on the final straightaway.
Franchitti's teammate and best friend, Tony Kanaan, was in the lead when the race was delayed.
Kanaan lost his chance to win on lap 157 when Jaques Lazier crashed in front of him and Kanaan spun out.
He wound up 12th, just ahead of Michael Andretti.
