OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -- Joe Blanton pitched a career-best three-hitter and the Oakland Athletics snapped the Minnesota Twins' five-game winning streak, 1-to-0.
Blanton ended a three-start winless stretch dating to May eleventh. He struck out six and didn't walk a batter in his fifth career complete game and second shutout. Blanton retired 19 of his last 20 batters.
Shannon Stewart broke the scoreless tie with an RBI groundout for the only run. The game was played in an hour, 49 minutes.
