WKU head coach Willie Taggart appears to have completed his first staff as the Hilltoppers' coach.

WBKO has learned Taggart will hire former Kansas defensive coordinator Clint Bowen for the same job on the Hill. An official announcement is expected later in the week.

Bowen becomes the ninth and final assistant coach for Taggart, who's been patient in completing his staff since accepting the job at his alma mater in November.

Bowen played at Kansas and has spent the last 12 seasons on the staff there, the last four as defensive coordinator. Bowen spent five years as special teams coordinator, then accepted co-defensive coordinator responsibilities in 2006 before taking the job by himself in 2008. During his time in Lawrence, he also coached the Jayhawks tight ends, running backs and safeties - coaching the latter for his last six seasons.

Bowen wasn't retained from Mark Mangino's staff when the Jayhawks hired Turner Gill as their new head coach after the 2009 season. He had also reportedly interviewed to coach defensive backs at Kansas State before taking the job at WKU.
