NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Corey Simon's attempt to restart his NFL career brought him to town Monday for a physical with the Tennessee Titans.

"We had him in for a physical, and we worked Corey out and he seemed to be in good shape," Titans coach Jeff Fisher told The Tennessean.

Agent Roosevelt Barnes did not immediately return a message left at his office Monday night by The Associated Press.

The defensive tackle was released by Indianapolis Aug. 4 after not passing his physical with the Colts at the start of training camp despite signing him to a five-year, $30 million contract before the 2005 season.

Simon had arthroscopic knee surgery and did not play in 2006. He was eventually placed on the non-football illness/injury list with an undisclosed ailment.

If healthy, he could help a Titans defense that ranked 30th in the league against the run last year, giving up 144.6 yards per game.

Simon was the sixth pick overall in 2000 by the Philadelphia Eagles. He spent five seasons with Philadelphia and had 270 tackles and 32 sacks, but the Eagles released him just before the 2005 season started because he refused to sign a one-year franchise tender.
