Bowling Green, Ky. — After being named MVP of the 2007 Northern Illinois Invitational over the weekend, Western Kentucky University junior setter Julia Noe added another award on Monday as she was named the first Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week for the 2007 season.
It was the second straight Player-of-the-Week honor for Noe, as she was also the final weekly honoree of the 2006 season.
Noe helped guide the Lady Toppers (3-0) to the NIU Invitational championship as she set WKU to a .344 team hitting percentage and an average of 16.67 kills per game. Individually, the Louisville, Ky., native recorded 22 kills (2.44/game) and did not commit any attack errors on her way to a .710 hitting percentage.
She also averaged 12.89 assists per game — 116 total — to go along with 15 digs and six blocks on the weekend. In the tournament finale against Indiana on Sunday, Noe recorded a career-high 12 kills on 15 attempts, and posted a career-best .800 hitting percentage. That ranked as the second-best single-match attack percentage in Lady Topper history.
Noe and the Lady Toppers open the home portion of the 2007 schedule on Wednesday, playing host to instate rival Kentucky at 7 p.m. (CDT) at E.A. Diddle Arena. WKU will also be home this weekend (Aug. 31 and Sept. 1) to entertain Tennessee State, Gardner-Webb and Marshall in the 2007 Lady Topper Invitational.
