Friday evening began well enough for Warren Central but Bowling Green's offense made the rest of the night difficult on the Dragons, overcoming an early 6-0 hole to win 62-6.
The victory established new series records for points (62) and margin of victory (56).
Trent Steelman finished 11-of-13 passing for 174 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for a score for the Purples. D.L. Moore caught five passes for 108 yards and two scores, upping his season total to 561 yards and seven touchdowns. Both figures are tops among receivers in Class 5A.
Tevin Barksdale led the Purple rushing attack, gaining 88 yards on seven carries and scoring twice. Lavance Anderson finished with 47 yards and a touchdown on five carries.
Tevon Boards paced Warren Central with 81 yards rushing on 13 attempts, while Tabarus Mitchell's touchdown on the team's opening drive represented all the Dragons' scoring.
Bowling Green (4-1, 1-0 Class 5A District 2), which won its fifth straight game against Warren Central, visits Franklin-Simpson next week in an out-of-district contest. Warren Central (1-4, 0-1) has a bye week before hosting Barren County on October 5th.
