BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU used another dominant first half to coast to a 92-63 win over ULM on Saturday afternoon in E.A. Diddle Arena.
WKU (17-8, 9-5) has now won its last three games by an average of 27.3 points per contest, all in league play. With the win over ULM (9-17, 5-9), the Lady Toppers completed a sweep of a three-game homestand that saw WKU also defeat Troy (93-66 on Feb. 12) and South Alabama (81-55 on Feb. 15).
WKU has led by at least 20 points in each of the three contests at the half after scoring at least 48 points before halftime in each of the three games.
After falling behind 7-2 to open the game, the Lady Toppers answered with a 15-2 run to jump ahead 17-9. During the spurt, Jones nailed two three-point field goals and Micah Jones added an additional basket from behind the arc as WKU hit all three three-point attempts they had during the spurt.
The Lady Toppers went on to build a lead of as much as 25 points in the first half at 45-20 following a pair of free throws from Chaney Means. WKU shot 48.6 percent in the opening half, including 5-of-10 from behind the three-point arc. WKU also hit 12-of-14 free throws before the break to help build the 22-point advantage. Seven of eight players that saw action before the half scored at least five points for the Lady Toppers, including 13 from Gooch.
It marked the third straight game that WKU took a lead of over 20 points into the locker room and the third straight game that WKU had scored at least 48 points before halftime.
The Lady Toppers continued to pull away in the second half, using an early 9-0 run to extend a 20-point lead at 58-38 to 67-38.
