BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU head men's basketball coach Ray Harper announced Thursday the addition of junior college point guard Brandon Harris (G, 6-1, 175, Oklahoma City, Okla. [Otero Junior College]) to the program for the upcoming 2012-13 season.
Harris most recently played at Otero Junior College in La Junta, Colo., where he helped the Rattlers to the NJCAA Tournament Elite Eight as a sophomore in 2011-12. The Rattlers finished the season with a school-record 30 wins en route to their best national finish in program history, and Harris was a part of Otero's first Region IX championship this past season.
The 6-1 guard played one season at Northwest Oklahoma State University in 2010-11, where he finished second on the team in assists and steals as a freshman. Harris prepped at Northwest Classen High School in Oklahoma City, Okla., and he contributed 14.2 points and six assists per game as a senior, earning first team all-city and all-conference honors.
Harper on Harris:
"We are excited about adding Brandon. We think he is the type of player that we were looking for. We needed a true point guard. He brings a lot to the table and more importantly he is a great kid. We are excited that he is going to be a Hilltopper."
The regular signing period for the Class of 2012 began on April 11 and lasts until May 16.
