Fant Leads WKU To Win At Louisiana-Lafayette

LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) -- George Fant scored 25 points as Western Kentucky defeated Louisiana-Lafayette 79-70 on Saturday.

Western Kentucky (13-7, 5-2 Sun Belt) got 18 points from Chris Harrison-Docks and Trency Jackson scored 17. The Hilltoppers shot 50 percent from the floor and made 24 of 27 free throws, but were a mere 3 of 12 on 3-pointers.

Elfrid Payton led Louisiana-Lafayette (12-8, 3-4) with 16 points. Shawn Long had 13 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks while Bryant Mbamalu had 13 points.

Lafayette led by 10, 27-17, with 7 minutes to go in the first half. But Western Kentucky came racing back, scoring the last 12 points of the half -- including Jackson's trey with 38 seconds left-- to lead 37-32 at the break.

The Ragin'Cajuns cut the lead to two with 6:53 left in the game on a Mbamalu jumper, but WKU scored the next seven points to quell the comeback.
