BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Sitting in a tie for first place atop the Sun Belt Conference standings, the WKU baseball team looks to continue its hot start in conference play as it hosts Louisiana-Lafayette for a three-game weekend series beginning Friday at 6:00 PM (CT) from Nick Denes Field.
WKU (14-11, 5-1) is off to a 5-1 start in Sun Belt Conference play, marking the fourth time in the last five years that the Hilltoppers have started league play 5-1 or better. WKU will have a chance to match its best Sun Belt Conference start ever, as three wins over the weekend would give the Hilltoppers an 8-1 league mark, tying for the best Sun Belt start in school history. WKU has also won nine of its last 11 games at Nick Denes Field, including an 8-5 win over Evansville on Wednesday. In all, WKU has won 10 out of its last 14 games.
The Hilltoppers will send left-handed starter Austin Clay to the mound in the opener on Friday, followed by junior Andrew Edwards and senior Tim Bado.
WKU has won four out of the last six games against Louisiana-Lafayette in Bowling Green, but dropped two of three on the road in 2012.
