Dayton, OH – Dylan Floro notched his ninth consecutive quality start to lead the Bowling Green Hot Rods (25-14, 63-44) past the Dayton Dragons (22-17, 50-58) 5-0 at Fifth Third Field on Wednesday night. The win caps a 4-4 road trip and an 18-10 month of July where the Hot Rods never lost more than two straight games. Justin O’Conner contributed offensively with three runs batted in.

O’Conner’s first run on the night was brought in on a solo home run to begin the top of the second inning. The Muncie, IN native’s team-leading 11th home run of the season cleared the row of bleacher seats in left field at Fifth Third Field. With one out in the inning, Marty Gantt doubled down the line in left field and was later brought in on a Ryan Dunn two-out RBI single.

Bowling Green was able to add to their 2-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning. Dragon starter Amir Garrett allowed a single and two straight walks to load the bases and was replaced by reliever Jackson Stephens. O’Conner greeted Stephens with a two-run double to left field to give the Hot Rods a 4-0 lead.

The Hot Rods added a late run to their lead in the top of the ninth inning. Andrew Toles third hit of the night continued a Hot Rods rally that was capped by Leonardo Reginatto’s third single, an RBI one-base hit that drove in Brandon Martin.

Floro never allowed a runner to reach second base, scattering six hits with three double plays turned behind him. The righty lowered his Midwest League leading ERA to 1.56 on the season and lasted 6.0 innings or later in a start for the 11th straight time.

A nine-game homestand at Bowling Green Ballpark begins Thursday night at 7:05 PM CDT as the Hot Rods continue their four-game home-and-home series with Dayton.
