Bowling Green, Ky. - WKU jumped out to a 10-0 lead and cruised to a 87-49 win over Kentucky Wesleyan in the Lady Toppers' first exhibition game of the 2013-14 season at E.A. Diddle Arena.
Junior All-America candidate Chastity Gooch, who last year posted 26 double-doubles on her way to the 11th best single-season performance in NCAA history in double-doubles, needed just 18 minutes before reaching the mark in the exhibition opener. She finished with 20 points and 14 rebounds in just 25 minutes. She hit 8-of-11 shots in the game.
Junior All-America candidate Alexis Govan, who earlier in the day was named the Sun Belt Conference's Preseason Player of the Year in a vote of the league's coaches, was extremely efficient. Govan scored 16 points. Senior Bianca McGee and sophomore Jalynn McClain each added 12 points for WKU.
