Greenwood Lady Gators Softball Hungry for More

Despite two state titles, 18 regular season district championships and 11 region titles, this team is still very hungry for more.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - When you play the Greenwood Lady Gators in softball, you immediately notice one thing, their success.

It's the first thing you see as you pull in to the softball complex, it's everywhere.

It's hanging above the concessions, on the walkway, in the stands, printed on the locker room, posted on the scoreboard and yea, even above the bathrooms.

You don't even have to be at the softball field to be reminded of the success Greenwood has had.

Another sign in downtown Bowling Green reminds you of the two state championships.

Despite two state titles, 18 regular season district championships and 11 region titles, this team is still very hungry for more.

"Pretty much our slogan is one goal and it's just to keep everyone focused and keep everyone on the same page of our goal in the season is to win state," senior Angela Adkins said.

The lady gators are currently 32-0.

They have the longest winning streak in KHSAA fast-pitch history and they don't want it to stop.

"We are so close now we would like to stay perfect, we would. You're right a loss would not be such a terrible thing maybe bring them back down to earth a little bit and show them they still have work to do, you know we're pretty good where we're going right now we'd kind of like to keep it that way," coach Penny Reece said.

It's been five years since the last state championship so for seniors Adkins and Brittany Graham there is only one perfect ending to their careers, a championship.

"It means everything to us especially having so many seniors and having our last season but it pretty much means everything," Adkins said.

"It'd mean the world to me especially since this is my last time I'll hang up my cleats after this season so it will mean all the world to me," Graham said.

As you walk out of the stadium there is a sign thanking you for being at the game and if the lady gators have it their way, soon there will be yet another reminder of their winning ways.
