BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — After setting a school record for wins in the FBS era in 2013, the WKU Hilltoppers improved their team on Wednesday, signing 10 junior college stars to National Letters of Intent for the 2014-15 season.
The Hilltoppers signed six junior college players that ranked in the top 11 nationally in their position group and who will be looked on to provide immediate depth in WKU’s first season in Conference USA.
“Today we added a number of young men who improve our depth and talent level immediately,” said Hilltopper head coach Bobby Petrino. “Across the board, our coaching staff found an excellent group of players who can come in to school this January, start school, and help our football team improve as a whole right away.”
The signees included: Dejon Brown, LB (Mt. San Jacinto), Ge’Monee Brown, DL (Pearl River CC), Forrest Coleman, DB (San Joaquin Delta), Jared Dangerfield, WR (Fort Scott CC), Antwane Grant, WR (Nassau CC), Zach Heath, OL (American River), Nick Holt, LB (City College of San Francisco), Troy Jones, QB (Nassau CC), Travis Lock, RB (Nassau CC), and Wonderful Terry, DB (Garden City CC).
In Petrino’s first season on The Hill, WKU set 18 new school records including total offense, single season rushing, single season passing, and passing first downs. Additionally, the Tops set a new school record for average attendance, a mark which has increased each of the past four years and saw its biggest jump in the Tops’ first year under Petrino.
