BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Hilltopper Football was back on the gridiron for its sixth practice of fall camp Thursday evening at Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium. For just the second time this fall it was a full contact practice for WKU as the team suited up in full pads for the second-straight session.
WKU also unveiled its Hilltopper Hospitality Zone to Hilltopper Athletic Foundation members at Thursday’s practice, which features five tents behind the south endzone of Smith Stadium that will be available for fans during 2014 home games. Head coach Jeff Brohm, Director of Athletics Todd Stewart, wide receivers coach Jamarcus Shephard and senior defensive back Cam Thomas addressed those in attendance at the beginning of practice. For pricing and availability options in the Hilltopper Hospitality Zone, contact Director of Ticket Operations Matt Morrison at 270-745-6074.
The Hilltoppers continued their work on offense, defense and special teams as they prepare for the season opener versus Bowling Green on Aug. 29 at Smith Stadium. WKU was able to fit in 100 minutes of work before storms forced the action to stop 20 minutes early. Following practice, Brohm spoke with the local media about WKU’s first six practices of the fall.
“I think the first week has gone well,” said Brohm. “A lot of guys are getting repetitions, a lot of guys are getting work, we’re developing depth and at the same time getting our guys ready to go. I feel good about the effort, good about the attitude and I think we are making strides.”
The Hilltoppers will practice for two hours beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Friday and hold its first scrimmage Saturday at 11 a.m. All practices are open through Aug. 15. A complete practice schedule can be found on WKUSports.com.
