BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – After 22 practices in 18 days, WKU Football wrapped up fall camp at Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium Thursday morning with another challenging two-hour practice.
The Hilltoppers continued to fine tune the details in their schemes and up the tempo they expect to see from multiple opponents in 2014, including the opening opposition in Bowling Green on Aug. 29. With kickoff versus the Falcons eight days away head coach Jeff Brohm emphasized to the local media that the focus for his players moving forward is improving at every opportunity.
“They’re excited,” said Brohm. “We try to go hard every day – ones versus ones every day to keep the same tempo and continue to get better. We have a young football team in a lot of spots so we have to continue to get better and utilize every second we have to do that.”
WKU will go through a mock game on Friday at 3 p.m. to familiarize players with the game day routine before getting a day off practice Saturday. The Hilltoppers will continue preparation for Bowling Green on Sunday when they hit the gridiron to begin their first practice of game week.
With his first season as head coach about to get underway, Brohm expressed his excitement to the local media following Thursday’s practice.
“I’m looking forward to it,” said Brohm. “This is a great place and I’m happy to be here. I love the guys we have on this team. I think they’re hungry and they’re a lot of fun to be around. They want to be successful and they want to do great things. We’re going to help them along the way.”
