BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- WKU opened their first fall practice season under coach Bobby Petrino on Monday on the turf of Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium in split sessions that saw the rookies work apart from the veterans.
Following the veterans session, Petrino addressed the media and gave his thoughts on the day.
"I was really happy with the freshmen; they certainly made some mistakes but the talent is good," Petrino noted. "(Overall), our players came to practice with a great attitude and worked extremely hard. They caught a break with the weather, but they came out focused and did a nice job for the most part."
From Aug. 5 to Aug. 16, practices are open to the public, and fans are encouraged to attend. All practices will take place inside Houchens-Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium but are subject to change. Fans are asked to enter the stadium from the east side gates and remain on the east side of the stadium. WKU respectfully requests that fans refrain from using their cell phones, including videotaping any portion of practice, taking pictures, texting, or posting to social media.
Tuesday's practice is set for a 2 p.m. start for the newcomers and a 5 p.m. start for the veterans.
