BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU begins its 95th season of basketball in unique fashion, as the Hilltoppers face Wichita State at midnight Monday night going into Tuesday morning, November 12, as part of the ESPN Tip-Off Marathon.
This is the first time WKU has participated in what is commonly referred to as “24 Hours of Hoops,” which celebrates the start of the college basketball season.
Wichita State is the first of two 2013 Final Four participants on the WKU schedule and also the first of four non-conference games for WKU against teams that won at least 27 games last season. WKU is 3-1 all-time against the Shockers, with all four games played in Wichita and the last meeting being a 84-81 Shocker win on March 19, 2005 in the NIT. The Hilltoppers hold a 62-36 record against current members of the Missouri Valley Conference and will also face Southern Illinois on December 7.
After the game at Wichita State, WKU returns to E.A. Diddle Arena for a three-game homestand, beginning Saturday against East Tennessee State.
Season tickets for the 2013-14 season start as low as $99 for all 18 games at E.A. Diddle Arena, and single-game tickets are on sale as well. Fans interested in purchasing season or single-game tickets can call the WKU Ticket Office at 1-800-5-BIG RED or 745-5222 locally, or order online at WKUSports.com.
