BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- For the first time this spring, the WKU Hilltoppers strapped on their shoulder pads and practiced in full gear for two hours on Friday on Feix Field inside Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium.
All practices are open to the public and will be capped off by the annual Red and White Spring Game, April 19 at 1 p.m.
The practice session was the third of the spring and was the first chance for both sides of the ball to get back to tackling and playing at full speed, a welcome sight for new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Tyson Helton.
"It was a good day. I thought the guys competed hard," Helton said. "I think they have great camaraderie. They compete and are very physical so they get after it. The players that played and have experience showed up, and I'm excited about who's returning on the offense. I think we have good leadership."
