BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) -- Western Kentucky's second early-season opponent from last year's Final Four will be very familiar as the Hilltoppers face defending national champion and in-state rival Louisville on Saturday.
WKU (5-3) seeks its first win since 2008 against the sixth-ranked Cardinals (8-1). The contest also begins a five-game stretch including Division I Southern Mississippi, Murray State, Ole Miss and Sun Belt Conference foe South Alabama, who are a combined 26-9.
Non-league play has often been challenging for the Hilltoppers, which makes this year's start somewhat impressive. But it has also paid off during Sun Belt competition as they've won back-to-back tournament titles and are preseason favorites this season.
WKU aims to make it even better with a signature win over Louisville and slow its recent roll in the series.
