Hilltoppers Rout Brescia as 14 Players Score, 103-65

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Using scoring efforts from all 14 players who took the floor, the WKU men’s basketball team broke the century mark with a 103-65 win over Brescia Saturday night at E.A. Diddle Arena.

It was the third time since the 2006-07 season that WKU hit the 100-point mark. The last time came in WKU’s overtime NCAA Tournament win against Drake in 2008, while it was the first occasion since 2007’s 103-96 win over ULM that the Hilltoppers reached 100 points in E.A. Diddle Arena.

With the win, WKU will carry an 8-4 record into its final game of a four-game homestand Monday night, while Brescia moves to 5-6 for the season. WKU looks to close out the non-conference schedule on a four-game win streak.

George Fant used a season-high 23 points to lead all scorers in the contest while grabbing seven rebounds. T.J. Price and Trency Jackson followed with 19 each, as the trio was a combined 21-for-28 shooting.

For Brescia, Jermain Langley led the visitors with 16 points. Trey Howard put in 10, as Langley, Howard and Kyle Nixon all had two three-point baskets each.

Fant and Price paired up for 30 points in the first half, leading WKU to a 45-29 lead into the locker room. After Brescia tied it at 10 each, the Hilltoppers poured out a 14-2 run while capitalizing on four Bearcat turnovers to take a 24-12 lead.

Five points in the opening minute of the second half put Brescia within 12 points, but would be the closest the team would come to WKU. Jackson came out of the break with the hot shooting hand, notching 15 of his 19 points off of 4-for-7 shooting from the floor and 5-for-6 from the charity stripe.

As a team, WKU went 7-for-13 behind the arc to break away from the Bearcats after making just one in the opening half.

WKU completed the game making just below 60 percent of its shots from the field while going 29-for-39 at the free throw line. Brescia shot 41 percent from the floor and went to the foul line for just eight total shots, making seven of them.

WKU concludes its four-game homestand and its non-conference schedule for 2013-14 Monday night at 7:00 (CT) against Ole Miss. The first 500 fans into E.A. Diddle Arena will receive a free WKU Foam Finger.

Monday's game will be televised by the Hilltopper Sports Satellite Network, airing nationally on ESPN3 and ESPN Full Court and regionally on WKU PBS and WBNA. It will also be broadcast on the radio on the Hilltopper IMG Sports Network, airing locally in Bowling Green on WKLX-FM Sam 100.7, with Randy Lee and Hal Schmitt on the call.

Single-game tickets for the 2013-14 season and various multiple-game packages are on sale now. Fans interested in purchasing single-game tickets or multiple-game packages can call the WKU Ticket Office at 1-800-5-BIG RED or 745-5222 locally, or order online at WKUSports.com.
