BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Seven Hilltopper seniors will play their final weekend series at Nick Denes Field, as the WKU baseball team will host Sun Belt Conference foe Florida Atlantic for a three-game series beginning on Friday, and concluding with the annual Senior Day on Sunday at 12:00 PM (CT).
Hilltopper seniors Tim Bado, Blake Crabtree, Adam Lavelle, Steve Hodgins, Devin Kelly, Taylor Haydel and Ryan Huck will all be recognized during the Senior Day festivities on Sunday. The seven seniors have combined to appear in 688 games in the Red and White, while combining for 441 hits at the plate and 291 strikeouts on the mound.
Huck and Haydel will leave the Hill with their names etched in the record books, as Haydel is just one appearance away from moving into third place all-time at WKU, while Huck is just three home runs away from moving into the top 10 in school history in that category.
The weekend series with Florida Atlantic has plenty of conference implications, as both teams come into the weekend deadlocked in a tie for fourth place in the standings, and just two games out of third place. With a WKU series win, the Hilltoppers would reach 20 wins at home for the 14th time in school history, and the first time since 2009.
The Hilltoppers have won six-straight series at home, while winning five consecutive home series in Sun Belt Conference play dating back to last season. The home team has won five-straight series in the WKU-FAU matchup, including the Hilltoppers taking each of the last two three-game series in Bowling Green.
