MIAMI, Fla. — WKU continues Sun Belt Conference play Saturday night against a familiar foe, matching up against FIU for the second time in four weeks at 6:30 (CT) in Miami.
The Panthers earned an 18-point win over the Hilltoppers in Bowling Green on December 31, but despite the loss, WKU still holds its best winning percentage against a current Sun Belt Conference member against FIU at 83.4 percent by winning 26 of 31 all-time matchups. The Hilltoppers are 10-3 historically in games against the Panthers in Miami, and WKU has won five of its last six games played in the state of Florida.
Three of WKU’s last five losses have come by a total of just five points, and the Hilltoppers are looking to get over the hump ahead of the second and final home game in a current stretch of six of eight on the road next Saturday against South Alabama.
Despite losing five of the last six conference games, WKU is only three games out of the top-five in the conference, which would mean a first-round bye in the conference tournament in early March.
