Jake Faria gave the Bowling Green Hot Rods (Class-A/Tampa Bay Rays) just what they needed on Friday night with six solid innings, but a solo home run in the second off Faria was the only piece of scoring as Nick Travieso and the Dayton Dragons (Cincinnati Reds) edged the Hot Rods, 1-0.
The lone run of the game crossed in the bottom of the second inning. With two outs, Jose Ortiz hit his second home run of the season over the left-center field fence. It didn’t seem like it at the time, but the blast would be the only bit of scoring on the night in Dayton’s 1-0 triumph.
The pivotal series will continue on Saturday night between the Hot Rods and Dragons. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
